Multiage Groups of Students Meeting!
Summit Elementary students are involved in K-5 mixed-grade Changemaker Teams that meet for 30 minutes two times per month. The purpose of Changemaker Teams is to build culture and community, to build respect and empathy for all, and to engage children in contribution projects. Teams consist of approximately 23 children and are led by two adults who facilitate student problem solving of school issues, facilitate community-building activities, and prepare children to bring issues and solutions to the monthly Principal Chat. One student representative from each Changemaker Team meets with the school principal to share student-generate issues and/or concerns and student-generated solutions. Issues are addressed and children are actively engaged in creating and communicating school-wide solutions.
