The Summit Elementary staff was recently recognized and presented with a banner for successfully completing the year one process of The Leader in Me. During this past year the Summit staff received training and worked on establishing guided visions and leadership strands that will be integrated into Summit's core curriculum and everyday language. The end result for Summit is that it now has a student leadership model that will become part of Summit's culture.  Schools across the country that have successfully implemented the Leader In Me leadership models have benefited in the following ways:

~ They develop students who have the skills and self-confidence to succeed as leaders in the               21st century.
~ They have decreases in discipline referrals.
~ It teaches and develops character and leadership through existing core curriculums.
~ Academic achievement improves.
~ It raises levels of accountability and engagement among both parents and staff.

During this next year, the Summit staff has set it sights on completing the required protocol that will qualify Summit to become a certified Lighthouse Leader in Me school. Currently there are only 6 Lighthouse schools recognized with this distinction.
